Zafar U. Khan, age 78, of Skokie, died Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
Born March 16, 1943 in Jhelum, Pakistan, Zafar was the third child of the late Rev. Faqir Ullah Khan and Jannat Khan. He was a retired teacher for Chicago Public Schools, where he taught English and Social Studies.
Beloved husband of Sajida, nee Rauf; loving father of Purnima (Geoffrey Danielson) Khan, Sara (Jameel) Barkat, and Joshua, Marian, and Zoya Khan; dear grandfather of Matthew and Jordan Khan Perkins and Sloane Barkat; fond brother of Farooq, Farida, Suleman, Joy, and Farhat.
Zafar lead an active and robust lifestyle. He enjoyed trying new recipes, listening to old ghazals, and spending Saturday mornings watching spaghetti westerns or anything with John Wayne. He was also an avid newspaper reader and gardener. Above all else, Zafar considered his greatest honor to be that of father and grandfather.

Funeral, Tuesday, July 27, at 10:45 a.m., from the funeral home, for Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 a.m., at Sts. Peter & Lambert Catholic Parish (St. Peter Church), 8100 Niles Center Rd., Skokie. Interment, Maryhill Catholic Cemetery, Niles.
