WAYNE D. SHEROD, Ph.D.
Born March 5, 1959 in Harlem, New York City to the union of George and Gertrude Isaac Sherod.
Wayne graduated from high school in 1977 and completed four (4) years of The United States Marine Corps (USMC) with an honorable discharge.
He later moved to Chicago, Illinois, passionate about his skills as a builder, to further his construction ambition. Wayne worked at McHugh Construction in Chicago for about eleven (11) years. Aiming to be all he can be, Wayne studied LEED and passed the exams, obtaining his LEED credentials (LEED® AP BD + C). Wayne asked and funded by McHugh, he also attained the Successful Completion of Required Academic Standing, With Honors in May 2015, the Degree of Master of Science in Green Building and Sustainability, and concurrently, the Successful Completion of His PhD Dissertation in May 2015, the Degree, with Honors, of Doctor of Philosophy in Sustainable Technology from The San Francisco Institute of Architecture.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sabrina McNair Sherod; his son, Pharoah Jahaz Sherod. (Mother: Debra Lucas-Sherod); his siblings: sister Joan R.N. (married to Glenn Winter MD.), children Glenn Jr., child Brooklyn, and Greg; sister Sherrie Sherod-Benjamin, children Alengta (married to Thomas Underwood, child Maleek), Asment, and Abena (engaged to Javon Berry); brother Roy, children Tyrone and Jeremy of Berlin Germany (married to Roz Curney-Sherod, child Ryan); late brother George Sherod Jr. (married to Mariah), children Valerie (married to Gregory Pack), children Chelsea and Myles, and Jackie (married to Roger Scott), child Roger Scott IV, and a host of cousins and friends.
Visitation, Thursday, December 27, 2018, from 3 to 6 p.m., at HABEN Funeral Home & Crematory, 8057 Niles Center Rd., Skokie. Interment, Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY.
