Stan Tanaka left a message on April 24, 2023:
I have many fond memories of Mrs. Shah, both at the Hydro office, and outside of the office. At the Hydro office, Mrs. Shah was a familiar sight in the 3rd Floor Accounting Department, working alongside Toi Thompson and Maria Corral in Accounts Payable.Specifically, she worked with the INTACT Document Management System, organizing/scanning/collecting invoices, and I’ll be the first to admit that this was not an easy responsibility, because it involved a complex sequence of steps.I remember explaining all these steps to Mrs. Shah literally just once, and she instantly committed it to memory, becoming second nature to her, and she quickly became an expert in using the software program.I smile when I think about her using the INTACT program, because she would often find bugs/problems (and solutions) that I’d totally miss, so it’s no exaggeration to say that I relied on her keen observations and feedback, because it kept the program running smoothly!Occasionally, Mrs. Shah would call and ask me if I could stop by the residence to assist with a home computer issue.Since it was basically a block away from the Madison Office, it was no problem to walk over there during my lunch break, or right after work.Sometimes the computer issue was very minor, and would only take a few minutes to fix. But as soon as I sat down in front of the computer, I’d hear a lot of commotion coming from the kitchen. It was Mrs. Shah cooking up a storm, preparing all sorts of food for me, making sure that I had plenty to eat during my visit.I’m not exaggerating when I say that she went all out – she would be at the stove, preparing a whole stack of authentic dosa from scratch, with sauces and side dishes - a true feast!I also remember the times where both of us would just sit at the kitchen counter, watching in amazement at her automatic rotating pizza machine as it cooked one of her delicious veg pizzas. While sitting there eating all this great food, we’d chat about a lot of different things, but one thing was a constant - Mrs. Shah would often share stories and news about Mr. Shah, Payal, Priya, and Ayan, and I could really hear the pride, joy, and warmth in her voice as she talked about her family.Although the initial reason for visiting was to fix the computer, I’d always walk away with a full stomach of delicious homemade food, and a renewed appreciation for my own family members. Both Mr. and Mrs. Shah were always so very kind to me, and I will never forget them.Mr. Shah gave me some great business and life advice that I still keep in mind to this day, and Mrs. Shah always asked about my family’s well-being, and made sure I had enough to eat!To the entire Shah family, I offer my deepest condolences and sympathies for your loss.Sincerely,Stan Tanaka
