Susanna “Susi” Hecimovic, nee Bauer, age 94, of Billings, MT, formerly of Morton Grove.
Loving wife, mother, and Oma passed away peacefully on April 14, 2021.
Susi was born Jan. 28, 1927, to Josef and Anna Bauer in Banat Topola in the former Yugoslavia. She was the youngest of eight children.
She married Ilija Hecimovic in Austria in 1950, and they with their son immigrated to the United States in Feb. 1952. They landed in New Orleans and rode the City of New Orleans train to their new home in Chicago, IL.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Kati, Anna and Maria, brothers Josef, Nikolas and Michi, and her loving husband Ilija.
Susi is survived by her sister Rosi Weinheimer of Germany. Son Tony (Mary) Hecimovic of Billings, MT, daughter Anna (Dan) Nolan of Pittsburgh, PA, granddaughter Katrina Hecimovic (Austin Polebitski) of Platteville, WI, grandsons Eric (Elizabeth) Nolan of Wexford, PA and Nicholas (Erin) Hecimovic of Billings, MT. and seven great grandsons Ilija, Arlo, Orion and Yuri Polebitski, John Nolan and Luka and Micah Hecimovic.
Susi’s family would like to say Danke Schoen to the Care Partners, Med Techs and activity ladies at Highgate Senior Living Cottage for their loving and special care of our Oma. We would also like to thank Compassus Hospice nurses for their care and support.
Family and friends will meet for a Graveside Service and Interment, Saturday, April 24, 2021, at 11 a.m., at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery, Niles. Funeral info: 847.673.6111.
