Stephen J. Hurley, age 73, of Chicago, formerly of Sterling Hts., MI, died August 18, 2022, at his residence.

Son of the late James and Catherine, née Bartlett, Hurley, he was born February 13, 1949, in Springfield, MA.

Beloved husband of Santina, née Morici; dear father of Meaghan (Gerald Kelel) and Maureen (Phil Metzler) Hurley; loving grandfather of Cameron, Avery, and Miles; fond brother of Christopher (Katie), Theresa, Kathleen, Michael (Shizayo), Paul (Mary Jo), Timothy (Nancy), Margaret (Nigel), Eileen, and the late Mary (the late Devi) and William (Haydi) Hurley.

Memorial Gathering, Saturday, September 3, 2022, from 9:30 am until time of Prayers, 10:45 a.m., at HABEN Funeral Home & Crematory, 8057 Niles Center Rd., Skokie.

Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., at St. Peter Church of Ss. Peter & Lambert Catholic Parish, 8100 Niles Center Rd., Skokie.

Sending love to you Santina, Maureen, Meaghan, and the whole family. Steve and Sandy were the first adults in my life who would happily gather around the kitchen table with their kids' friends, welcome us for homemade pizza and cannolis, watch Monty Python together, and laugh and talk for hours. Steve talked with me many times, with such kindness on serious subjects and with wry humor for everything else, on drives to school, at our performances, and at the Hurley home. I loved him and love you all, and hold these memories and kindness forever close to my heart.
