Sara A. Guth, née Westerfield, age 83, of Evanston, IL, died Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Evanston Hospital, with her family by her side. She was born May 7, 1939, in Galesburg, IL, to Dean and Marian, née Young, Westerfield.
Sara spent summers with her family at their cabin in a remote area of Northern Minnesota. Many wonderful memories were made there. A 1957 graduate of Aledo High School, she attended Knox College, where she was a member of the Alpha Zeta Delta Sorority, graduating with honors in 1961.
After graduation, she married the love of her life, Gordon Guth, and moved to Evanston, where she was a wonderful homemaker, mother and wife. Her career was in proofreading, and she was often called on to proofread many papers for her family and friends. She was an active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, Evanston, and a lifelong volunteer, most recently in the library and little store, sewing walker bags at her residence, Westminster Place. She was known there as a loving wife to Gordon and was always seen walking on the campus holding his hand. She loved playing Bridge and Mahjong and was active in several groups, where she was known for her amazing variety of homemade cookies.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Marian. She is survived by her husband, Gordon Guth, and two children, Gregory (Amie) Guth and Jennifer Crossland, as well as her grandchildren, Jessica and Jake Guth, Ashley and Kevin Crossland.
A small private family service is planned.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to Crane Lake Chapel, 7399 Handberg Rd., Crane Lake, MN, 55725.
