Ronald D. Kelch, 89, of Skokie, IL, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 20, 2023, in the comfort of his home. He was born November 6, 1933, in Rock Island, IL, and adopted from an orphanage by his parents, John and Stasia Kelch (nee Kinsella). He would be their only child.
Ronald grew up in Joliet, IL and attended Joliet Township High School, Class of 1953, where he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Japan where he met his beloved wife, Yoshiko (Kay) Konishi. They returned to the U.S. and started a family in Bradley, IL. Together they had three children, Daniel, David, and Diane.
Ronald spent most of his career as the IT Manager at Kankakee Community College. He enjoyed reading , watching sports and going for walks. After an early retirement, Ronald and Yoshiko enjoyed traveling across the U.S. and Europe, and visiting family in Japan. Most importantly, they cherished family time with their children and grandchildren.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and wife Yoshiko Kelch (nee Konishi). He is survived by sons Daniel (Laura), David (Kelly), daughter Diane Bakes, and grandchildren Charles, Gordon, Madeline, Fiadh, Nathan and Olivia.
Ronald will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
