Proprietor of Robert’s Office Supplies and Equipment, Inc., Skokie, he was born July 10, 1939 in Evanston, IL to Anthony and Dorothy Burns Schmitt. Beloved husband of Natalie Shepelenko and the late Rosemary, nee Tiltges; dear father of Steven R. and Julie Ann; loving grandfather of Troy, Pierre, and Rosie; respected step-father of Viktor and Marina; fond brother of the late Roy and Bernard A.; cherished uncle of Doris (Richard) Royal and Donna, Michael (Colleen) and Mark (Margo) Schmitt. Bob was incredibly friendly and always had good stories to share with you. His smile and kindness will be missed.

Robert Schmitt was always kind and genial when I visited his store, always taking an interest in my musical pursuits. He frequently had a funny story or anecdote and was generous when he opened his house for guests to BBQ and enjoy a summer day. Just a great guy.

Steve, I’m praying for you during your time of loss. Rest In Peace dear Robert. I will never forget your face, sweet heart, and your kindness for all the people.
