So sorry for your loss. I saw Rich at Old Neighborhood Grill one night in June leaving from an event in which I may have had a drink or two too many. My wife, Karen, came to pick me up and while we were leaving, I saw Rich at the bar. First time in years. So I stopped to chat with him. It was like every time I ran into Rich over the years in unexpected moments. We had a drink. We caught up. We shared stories. We laughed. It was like we had seen each other just weeks before. It was like we would be back at the bar next week. That was his gift. Rich always had this way of making you feel like a friend no matter how much time had passed since your last visit. So absolutely sad for everyone that knew him but I am forever blessed to have known him.

Rich was one of the first friends I had when I came to Chicago. My daughter also attached herself to him early. He is just the kind of guy you can't help but like. He's seen me thru a tough time, and would do anything for you. The loss of him has triggered so many emotions, and will leave a scar forever. We did a lot of things together, enjoyed Cubs games, played trivia, just hung out as brothers. Forever in our hearts is a place for Rich.

Many fond memories of one of the other German families in Saint Lambert's. Mostly I remember three beautiful sisters. I talked to Richard occasionally but he was substantially younger than I, and of course my younger brother was best friends with Alex. I used to love to run into your mother at the German deli too! Please accept my sincerest condolences and I'm sorry that your family must endure yet another loss. We Rubys know all too much about that though. Peace to the Sudendorf family from, Bill Ruby
