Dealing with the shock and the pain of loss are never easy. It is a lot and it hurts. How I wish I know the perfect thing to say to make it a little better. But I know those words never exist. Know that I am here willing to listen anytime you guys want to talk. Uncle is happy and at peace now with Lola Naty, Lolo Jose and Daddy.

My family and I are sending our deepest condolences to the family of Dr. Valera. Growing up in Obrero was nothing but great memories. He was like my second Dad. He was our physician and best friend of my parents together with Dr. Lina. He was soft spoken, kind, and caring. When my mom passed away in 2017, I tried my very best to be composed and not to cry at her wake in Southern California, until he and Doctora showed up. I was not expecting that as we are so far apart them being in Chicago. At the sight of them I started crying as I felt that with them I can be an orphaned child for a moment. The love and friendship they gave my parents I shall never forget. Rest in peace Doctor and the heavenly choirs are singing welcoming you and I know upfront are my Tatay and Nanay saying with arms outstretched “Welcome Home Kumpare!”
