Miss Ollie was unforgettable. I met her in 2009 when I ran a voter registration drive in Edgewater, and shortly after started going to her lounge. As a native north-sider and black person, I really appreciated having a spot to go where I could hear music that reflected my culture and see people who looked like me enjoying themselves. Miss Ollie was so hospitable, always offering me a plate of peanuts and sitting to chat as I ordered drinks! I loved to bring my friends from out of town to Ollie's Lounge to show them how we do up north. I miss you Miss Ollie, and love you. May you rest in paradise! Hopefully you will continue to look after our community from Heaven!

I have known Ms. Ollie since the late 70's. I was not old enough to go into Ollie's Lounge back then, but I knew many people who knew Ollie. My husband and I have been going to Ollie's since the early 90's. Ollie was a kind-hearted woman, but also a strong, intelligent business woman, someone to look up to. I visited Ms. Ollie more often during the day in recent months, just stopped by and sat and talked to her. Towards the end she said she was tired. She fought a good fight. May Ms. Ollie rest in paradise eternally. We will miss you dearly, Ms. Ollie.
