Raghavan was a wonderful person in all aspects and was a mentor and a dear friend. We looked up to him for advise many times. He was an intellectual par excellence, sharing ideas freely, friendly and funny to give everyone a laugh. We will miss him dearly. Our condolences to Vathasala and family.

RAGHAVAN, an acrostic poem. Remarkable - “Worthy of attention“ Raghavan set the standard, an example for us all to emulate, so that we may strive to be better every day. Accepting - “Consent to receive” He had an incredible capacity for patience, especially in relationships. He gave people the time and space to develop, come into their own. He would guide gently but didn’t aggressively try to shape an outcome. Generous - “Showing a readiness to give more of something than is required” Raghavan uncle was always ready with his Talent, Time or Treasure. There were numerous occasions my family and I sought his council. He convinced my parents that a starting job after MIT at BCG would be a good choice. My parents had never heard about management consulting. That decision launched my professional career, and the life-changing experiences I had. Helpful - “Giving and always ready to support” Rags was the kind of person that offered prescient council, sometimes unsolicited and always valuable. He demonstrated countless acts of kindness and generosity. He briefly supported my MIT tuition when my parents struggled. He believed in the power of education, and supported it wholeheartedly. Affable - “Friendly, good natured, easy to talk to” As the patriarch, akin to a benevolent Godfather, he was revered and perhaps intimidating to some. I always found him ready for a chat across a range of topics. He could drive a conversation on a portfolio of topics from sports, to science, to the intricacies of specific individuals’ personalities and relationships. He knew how to have a good time, and was very popular throughout his life stages. He sure loved his tipples, and his trips to the casino. Visionary - “Original, bold ideas about the future” Uncle wanted more, the best out of life. I loved getting into discussions with him about the pharma industry, the business and science of drug production and delivery. I always learned something-he was constantly learning and growing. Ambitious - “Having or showing a strong desire and determination to succeed” Uncle had big dreams, and he wanted the best for his family and loved ones. He mastered the art of financial leverage. Beyond his day job, he had an insatiable passion for real estate and investing. He’d spend weekends scoring the market, his portfolio and scoping new opportunities. Nurturing - “Care for and encourage the growth and development of” With his life partner Vathsala, he lifted up countless relatives, friends and colleagues. This multiplier effect is incredible. He have them the chance to work hard, to prove themselves, and to enjoy a benighted future. Raghavan Uncle will be dearly missed. We will continue to reflect and reminisce on how lucky we were to have shared experiences with this remarkable person. I will be forever grateful to Raghavan Uncle, his wife Vathsala Aunty, their 3 boys Vijay, Harish and Ravi, and their entire extended family, for the generosity, grace, support and love they have bestowed upon my parents, and myself. Many of our accomplishments and achievements were thanks to Uncle. We were truly blessed to have dinner Sunday before last for my Dad’s 80th bday. May he Rest In Peace.
