Born November 11th, 1929, in Chicago, IL to Leon and Nazle, nee Antaramian, he served in the US Army from 1951 to 1952. He excelled academically, attending Wright Junior College and the American Academy of Art. He was an art director for Leo Burnette and BBDO, advertising agencies based in Chicago and San Francisco, among many others. His talented and award-winning designs were featured in print advertisements that circulated nationwide. Richard always had a benevolent spirit and was generous supporter of many charities, including: the Armenian All Saints Apostolic Church of Glenview, IL; St. Jude’s Hospital; and Veteran’s Causes. He partnered with the World Bank to build two schools in Armenia, as well as plant thousands of trees.
Known to his close family and others simply as “Uncle,” Richard V. Ermoian was much more than simply an Uncle. He was a talented and dedicated artist and historian. “Uncle” Richard was the voice of reason and source of dependency and advisement for his family, always had the family’s best interests at heart and always placed them above his own. His selfless and philanthropic nature, kind heart, and strict, admirable values will be remembered and passed down for generations, never forgotten.
Beloved Son of the late Nazle, nee Antaramian, and Leon; Loving Brother of Harry (Fatemeh); Dear Uncle of Richard; Cherished Great-Uncle of Ian and Zahra Ermoian; fond cousin of the Ermoian, Antaramian, and Mardoian families.
I said a prayer for you today and know God must have heard. I felt the answer in my heart. Although He spoke no word. I didn’t ask for wealth or fame: I knew you wouldn’t mind. I asked Him to send treasures of a far more lasting kind. I asked that He’d be near you at the start of each new day. To grant you health and blessings and friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all.
