Jose A. “Joe” Fernandez, age 77, of Skokie.

Beloved husband of Maria, nee Herrera; dear father of Jim (Maria) and Jason (Michelle); loving grandfather of Jessica, Michael, Jennalyn, Marissa, Makayla, Jayden, and Madelyn; fond brother of Eliseo, Rudy, Silverio, Ruby, and the late Perfecto, Lino, and Felino; dear brother-in-law of Dr. Felix Herrera and Mary and Benjamin Turcuato.

Mr. Fernandez is a retired Plant Manager in the manufacturing industry; founder of the Skokie Kumon Math and Reading Center; and Past Grand Knight of the Fr. Stroot Council No. 3243 Knights of Columbus.

Visitation, Thursday, May 20, 2021, from 3 to 9 p.m., at HABEN Funeral Home & Crematory, 8057 Niles Center Rd., Skokie. [Please note: Face masks and social distancing are required.]

Funeral, Friday, May 21, at 9:45 a.m., from the funeral home, for Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St. Peter Catholic Church, 8100 Niles Center Rd., Skokie.

Our deepest condolences to the Fernandez family. Praying for the eternal repose of his soul. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Sending prayers & condolences for you loss. What first comes to mind is the wonderful times we had at the Fil-Am dances at St. Peters & Joe raffling off prizes. It was always a lovely time to have this dinner/dance with neighbors. And also remembering all the contributions made to make our Parish the wonderful place it was. Thank You Joe & Family.
