Tiffany and family, I was shocked and so deeply saddened to hear of Mike's passing. I am Matt Robertson's mom and I remember Mike so well from IWU days and Schwaben soccer. I sat on the bleachers with you for many games and watched Matt and Mike play. The picture you have posted of Mike and his children is just precious and shows how much they adored him. What a terrible loss for your family. May God be by your side as you travel on this new journey. With sympathy, Cathy Robertson

So very sorry and sad to lean of Mike’s passing. I loved watching him play soccer with my son at IWU and Schwaben. He always played with a lot of passion and was truly one of the nicest guys I ever met.

I had the pleasure of working with Mike at B of A, and he was a great member of our team. My last memory of Mike was buying him a farewell whiskey at Slightly Toasted when he changed jobs a few months ago. I will always remember his warmth and his smile (and his hats!). May his memory be for a blessing to you and your family.

We had the privilege to watch Michael grow up. We have memories of many family gatherings together through church or Super Bowl Sunday get togethers. We watched Michael grow into a fine young man and enjoyed the times we got to watch him play soccer on the Illinois Wesleyan field. He is a son to be proud of and are thankful he is now in the presence of his savior. Rest well Michael, till we meet again.

Michael was a cherished colleague of mine at Morgan Stanley. When we were not talking about work, we shared many stories about Fishing, how much better Augustana College was when compared to Illinois Wesleyan, building a family, living life, and, above all, our love for Soccer and the current status of the Chicago Fire. My most favorite memory of Mike was when we chartered Windy City Salmon the second time to keep our "Fish on the Rocks" group going. He welcomed my brother and father to round out our charter to a group of four. He asked us if we brought coffee, which we did not. Without a hesitation, he hands us all Coffee Stouts, and said let's have some fun. That day, we caught our limit of Coho Salmon in 90 minutes of a four-hour charter. When, by coincidence, I saw Mike last was when he was interviewing to come back to Morgan Stanley. I will never forget the smile on his face when I popped my head out of an office and welcomed him back...not knowing that he didn't have the job yet. All of those good memories of our past came rushing back, and I was so happy to reconnect in person again. The thing I was most impressed by Mike was his ability to live in the moment at that time. Yes, there is a crazy world around us and stress to keep our families safe; however, Mike found a way to take that moment and make it special.Tiffany, Paige, and August, we have never met in person, yet I feel that I have known you as friends. As time moves on, please know that your Husband/Father has made a lasting impression on a lot of people. He is already missed tremendously by myself and his closest colleagues. I know that I will continue to remember him and try to "Be like Mike".

What a dear young man Michael was. When he was small, I got to babysit him sometime in the days. He was a delight and it left a sweetness in my heart for him. I got to be in touch with him through FB and it thrilled me to see his sweet wife and precious children. I affectionately called him "Michael-Bichael" when he was little and he remembered that..... and he allowed me to call him that on FB on his birthdays. How fragile life is! How I pray that you and your family, Tiffany and those babies will be absolutely overwhelmed by God's kindness and comfort! Dear Mark and Jan , I cannot imagine the loss.... the void of losing your child ! Somehow, we always think we won't have to be around to witness that! I am so sorry. I pray for you and your boys as you also work through such a tremendous grieving process! We love you. Peg and Bill Onnen

My deepest condolences to Tiffany and family. I worked with Mike for several years prior to his return to Morgan Stanley, and was delighted that he decided to come back to the firm recently. He was an extremely smart, conscientious, kind, funny, hard-working colleague who was a key member of the team, and demonstrated in exemplary form how to keep work/life balance in great harmony. We will all miss him.

Mark, I was truly saddened to read of your son's passing. As I continue assisting my daughter in her fight against stage 4 cancer, it just makes me marvel every day at how precious life is. Losing your loved one in death is a pain we can never get accustomed to. But Jehovah, "the God of all comfort" lovingly eases that pain by promising to get rid of death. At Isaiah 25:8 he said that "He will swallow up death forever, and the sovereign lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces". Such beautiful and comforting words from our Father Jehovah can help us through the most difficult time of our lives. https://www.jw.org/en/library/books/dead-live-again-tract/dead-live-again/
