I only had the pleasure of knowing Maggie for one year before she retired in 2010. I remember her sense of humor and some of her stories when she lived in Cuba. It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of my friend from way back. Maggie was my former earth science student from nearly 30 years ago when I worked and taught at Northeastern Illinois University. Her daughter Monica was (coincidentally) my earth science student at Oakton Community College in 1996. Maggie and I reunited as colleagues at the EPA Region 5 office a number of years later before she retired. We lived a few blocks away from each other in Skokie. Please accept my deepest sympathies to Maggie's family and relatives.
