Lucy Julia VanVeldhuizen, of Chicago, Illinois- was carried to heaven by the angels on Wednesday, March 18, 2020.  Lucy is the daughter of Troy J. VanVeldhuizen and Joy P. VanVeldhuizen (née Hathaway) she was born Friday, August 16,2019 in Chicago,Illinois.

Lucy is survived by her parents, her maternal grandparents Dennis and Julia Hathaway of Kouts, Indiana-her paternal grandparents Harold and Gladys VanVeldhuizen of Sheldon, Iowa. And maternal great grandparents Ronald and Patricia Vollrath of Kouts, Indiana. Also Uncles-Chad (Erin) Hathaway of Valparaiso, Indiana-Douglas Hathaway of Chicago, Illinois-Aunts Angela Hathaway of Carmel, Indiana and Rachel (Brandon) Krukow of Boyden, Iowa. Cousins Addilyn Hathaway, and Taylor & Josie Krukow. Lucy had an extensive family including many Great Uncles & Aunts and extended cousins that also survive. Lucy will be remembered always and forever for the beautiful 7 month old baby girl who was loved and adored and cherished by her family, many friends and all the Earth Angels in the form of nurses and doctors and medical staff from Ann & Robert H. Lurie’s Children’s Hospital that helped her fighting body and spirit grow and thrive. Lucy Julia will always be affectionately known to all who knew her as a beautiful swan princess warrior.  Funeral Service and Cremation will be private.  A Celebration of Life will be held in the future. Per the request of Lucy’s loving parents, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Ann & Robert H. Lurie’s Children’s NICU unit.  Funeral info: 847.673.6111.
