Lois Shikami passed away peacefully on February 16, 2021, leaving her husband behind. She was born in Seattle, WA, and later interned at Minidoka. Lois grew up in Delavan, WI, graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and taught grade school in Chicago, at the Howe School, for some 23 years. She was dedicated to her church, the Christ Church of Chicago, where she had many friends. She met her husband, Jim, at Chicago’s Carson Pirie Scott. They loved, teased, and supported each other always. She raised four children and enjoyed her two grandkids – who were all fortunate to share in her love and sense of adventure. She was a fine cook. There were always parties with friends and relatives. A social, energetic, and joyful person, there was always a new project, something to be involved in, and laughter. I am so sorry for your lost. Ms Shikami, as I knew her, was my first grade teacher at Howe school in 1979/1980. She was wonderful. I will always remember her mild and loving personality, and her white Honda Civic as she came down Chicago Ave. :)

I'm sorry to hear about Lois' passing. I worked with her at Howe. She was an amazing woman. She helped me learn the ropes as a new teacher back in the 80's. She was so kind and patient with all her students. May she rest in peace. Loretta

Lois was one of our sweetest neighbors and she made the best cookies. I met her at one of our block parties and we immediately hit it of and shared teacher talk. Lois will be missed but her memories will continue to live on in our hearts. My condolences to Jim and the entire Shikami family.

The nicest thing I can say about Lois is her gentleness and ready smile. She was soft spoken but always had a hint of strong mindedness in what she wanted to tell people. She was funny, too, and joined every activity in Tri-C. I will miss her very much. My sympathy to Jim and the whole Shikami family. We lost Lois but we now have an angel looking out and praying for us.

We have fond memories of our neighbors when we were kids on Lunt Ave. back in the '60's. Mrs. Shikami was so kind, very talented, and always seemed to be smiling. Our prayers for her soul, and for Mr. Shikami, Alan, Kevin, Russell and Kim. Love, The Mulligan's

My very sinceree sympathy to the Shikami Family on the loss of Lois. I worked with her at Howe School and always admired her loving care and devotion to the children she taught. She was tireless, loving,enthusiastic in dealing with them. She once told me about her background and i was so impressed with it that I have told my children and friends about her many times.since i was very familiar with Delaven. May she Rest in Peace!
