Once every while, if you’re lucky, you make a deep and lasting connection with someone you meet during your journey in this world. When Diana and I moved to Skokie, we knew no one. My family was back East, and Diana’s lived in Michigan. So, we were lucky that in kindergarten Taylor made friends with Christina Martin, and so began our friendship with the Martin’s and with Lety Martin’s extended family. Lety was the kind of warm and nurturing friend that made you feel welcome and that you belonged - Skokie became home to our family because of Lety. We mourn the passing of our friend, but we take comfort in knowing that she was a part of our lives. Honestly, we’ve been inconsolable these past few days, as all of us have been, but we know that through Lety’s family and our friends we will figure how to get through this – together.Descansa en paz, mi hermana.Rich & Diana Evonitz

Don and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I hadn’t been in touch for a while with Leticia, but she was never far from my heart and thoughts. She was such a good person and I loved hanging and chatting with her both at work (Fel-Pro) and when I would come visit at the house. She was a gem. Sending prayers in your time of grief.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I am out of words and I don’t have the courage to call my madrina Nelly. Lety was a warrior that fought real hard but her battle was too much and God didn’t want her to suffer anymore. I will keep you all in my prayers. My mom has been keeping in touch with my madrina Nelly daily.Love you guys and may God grant you all the strength. Mom is now resting in peace along side Jesus Christ our lord and both mom and dad will continue to watch over guys. Sending you all warm hugs just like your mom knew how to give them.

Lety was my friend since I was eight years old. We always kept in touch even wherever I lived. Lety was a sister to me and my best friend. She always asked me to come live in Chicago with her, if I could have forseen how her health would have taken a turn I would have moved just to be by her side. My heart is broken but I will always have her in my heart and prayers. May she rest in peace. I love you Lety.

On behalf of the Sterba family,Ms. Leticia was a breath of fresh air, a contagious laugh, a fierce and loving mama bear, and tough as nails through it all. Her devout love for her four children and her family is what I will always remember and treasure most about her. She was the “Cool Mom,” and someone you just wanted to constantly be around. She was there for you, even when she didn’t have to be. Her presence and spirit will be missed, but will live on through her children and nieces and nephews. Sending all my love and condolences during this horrific, devestating time. What a monumental loss for everyone who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.
