Lawrence Henry Miller, age 97, of Palatine, formerly of Lincolnwood, died Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at The Lutheran Home, in Arlington Heights. Son of the late Charles N. and Anna, née Lescher, he was born September 7, 1924, in Morton Grove. Veteran, U.S. Army, World War II.

Beloved husband of the late Ruth C., née Oppice; dear father of Thomas (Patricia), Jean (Michael) O’Callaghan, Charles (Linda Fortman), and Kurt (Kathie); loving grandfather of Jennifer (Nicolino) DiBenedetto, Kathleen (Steven) Stapley, Charles (Erin Rodgers) and Thomas (Abby Carlin) Miller, Colleen (Greg) Smith, and Katharine (Hasan Yavas), Nicholas, Timothy (Kaitlynn), and Bridget Miller; cherished great-grandfather of 15; fond brother of Albert (the late Paula), Arthur (the late Joyce), and the late Anne (the late James) Snyder, Charles Miller, and Rosemary (the late James) White; dear brother-in-law of the late Robert and Betty Oppice; uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Visitation, Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 9 a.m. until time of Prayers, 10:45 a.m., at HABEN Funeral Home & Crematory, 8057 Niles Center Rd., Skokie.

Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., at Sts. Peter & Lambert Catholic Parish (St. Peter Church), 8100 Niles Center Rd., Skokie.

Interment, St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Skokie.

To all the Miller family, thinking of you as you honor Larry and his life. What a guy!! ❤️ I have such wonderful memories of times with Larry & Ruth & Jenny & Charlie at Pt Comfort at our cottages during the summer. Larry would tell us where we should fish, many times right in front of their cottage. We had joint fish fry dinners after the kids would catch the fish. Larry was such a tease, loved his humor! You were blessed to have him for a father & grandfather & I to have known him! Sending love and prayers to all of you as you honor his life and grieve his passing ❤️ Sally Schuler

My sincere sympathies on your loss, for Larry was a very special man. Larry was first a wonderful friend and neighbor to my parents, the late Al and Martha Lange, and for many years after they passed, a wonderful friend and neighbor to me as well. Even in these last years, he was ever upbeat, with not only a quip for every occasion, but also a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face. He was also extremely gracious whenever I shared a home-cooked meal with him - even when it wasn’t a favorite food - lol! I shall miss his gentle spirit and caring presence here at Willow Creek. May he rise quickly with the company of angels to rejoin Ruth and others gone on before.

We are so sorry to learn of Larry’s passing. We knew him as a fair and generous boss, and in the following years, as a kind and honorable friend. We will miss his dry sense of humor and easy ability to poke fun at himself. It’s so sad to lose another member of the “Greatest Generation”. We extend sincere condolences to the entire Miller family.

Sending love to the Miller cousins. I will remember Uncle Lawrence’s humor and always felt special that he and Aunt Ruth were chosen as my godparents.

Larry was a very kind man and will be missed.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Jean and Family- I was so sad to hear about the loss of your father. Sending prayers your way. I know you have a lot of great memories of him — I hope they comfort you. I’ll always remember the wonderful stories you shared about him. He was a kind and thoughtful man who left a great legacy and a daughter I am proud to call one of my good friends.
