Kenneth Byron Hatfield, M.D., age 87, of Chicago, IL, passed peacefully November 2, 2021. He was born in Charleston, WV, November 7, 1933.

Survived by his son, Scott Frederick Hatfield, of Boulder, CO; daughter, Heidi Lynn Starr, and son-in-law, Adam Jennings Starr, of Dallas, TX; and three grandchildren, Sarah Jane Starr, Samuel Jennings Starr, and John Caleb Starr, also of Dallas.

Ken was a Cardiologist in Chicago for many years. He was a devoted doctor and father. He graduated college from the University of Kentucky and went on to the University of West Virginia Medical School. College basketball was one of his favorite pastimes as well as walks on the beach and visiting with his grandchildren.

We are grateful to the NorthShore Hospice team that gave him such peace.

He was a kind, gentle man and will be missed by many!

I am so very sorry to learn of the good Doctor's passing. He was a dear and kind friend to me for many years. We met when Ken and I were working at Ravenswood Hospital. He was of course, the physician and I worked in hospitality. He was a very kind a generous man. May he R.I.P. in God's heavenly kingdom forevermore.

My families condolences. Dr. Hatfield took care of my grandmother and parents for many years. During the 60's, 70's, 80's and very early 90's I believe. He was always thoughtful and kind. God Bless him and his family.

I am so sorry to hear of Ken's passing. We spent much time together playing with, and repairing fountain pens,a hobby we both loved.
