Joe was a dear friend from childhood. How many happy memories I have of him, his marvelous parents and his brother. Though I have lived in California since 1960, I saw Joe and his mom whenever I came to Chicago, and we were together in Winnebago in 2016, when we celebrated the year we all turned 75. What a great home he and his mother reared his children in after Karen's death, and what an important presence Joe was in his law firm and the profession. His humor, zest and warmth made him stand out for all the right reasons. I remember being so impressed when I heard that he'd been voted the most eligible man on campus at the University of Illinois during his student days, not because he won, but because it showed that those who chose him knew enough to value someone who wasn't the traditonal captain of the football team, but instead a cheerful, kind and thoroughly admirable leader among his peers. I am sending my deepest sympathy to his children and grandchildren and to those of Jan. How proud he was of you and how much he loved you.

Joe was a smart, caring classmate. I enjoyed visiting with him at reunions & on Facebook. I hadn’t heard from him for awhile so finally googled him. Then, I found his obituary. I knew he was stage four but did not know he had so short a time. We will miss hi .
