Joaquin Chang, age 86, of Skokie, died Saturday, May 15, 2021, at his residence.
Beloved husband of Juana Chang (nee Morua); devoted father of Marie Chang-Pisano (Chris Pisano) and Anne-Marie Chang (Orfeu Buxton); loving grandfather of Quinn Calahan, Adelle Grogg, Caden and Rhylan Buxton.
Joaquin was born in Santiago de Cuba to his beloved Lourdes (Mother) and Joaquin (Father) Chang. He immigrated to Chicago in 1957 where he helped many Cuban immigrants settle. In 1960 he met his beloved wife Juana and was happily married for 60 years. Joaquin was a soft spoken man of great integrity, honor and devotion for the people and things he loved. He was a family man who treasured his wife, daughters and grandchildren. They were his entire life. He always stressed the value of education and he earned a degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, in 1980. In 1989, he was honored by the American Medical Association for 3 decades of service as the senior drug information specialist. Joaquin was a man of many talents and had many hobbies including photography, movies, cooking and food. He will be sincerely missed and he will always be remembered as a generous loving man who made us all better.
