Janet Louise Phillips Mazella, age 69, of Skokie, passed away November 26, 2020. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Phillips. She is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Gregory Mazella; three children, Kim (Aaron) White of Crystal Lake, Christopher (Jessica) Mazella of Crystal Lake, and David (Leslie) Mazella of Arlington Heights; two sisters, Susan (Raymond) Grazzini of Berwyn, Karen (Dennis) Giammicchio of Schaumburg; her mother, Louise Phillips of Schaumburg; and her six grandchildren, Connor and Sydney White, Kailyn and Luke Mazella, and Max and Grayson Mazella.
Janet was born in Herrin, IL. She graduated from St. Gregory High School in Chicago. She then attended and graduated from Northeastern Illinois University and the University of Illinois Chicago. She taught Physical Education for 30 years for Chicago Public Schools where she moved into Adaptive Physical Education. She then spent the next 13 years teaching Adaptive Physical Education for the Special Education District of Lake County.
Janet loved traveling the world and had a particular fondness for antiquing. She was a dear aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She enjoyed hosting Sunday family dinners and many family get-togethers. She especially cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren.
Visitation, Monday, December 14, 2020, from 9:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass, 10:30 a.m., at St. Peter Catholic Church, 8100 Niles Center Rd., Skokie.
