James R. “Jim” Bartles, Ph.D., age 67, of Skokie, died Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Highland Park Hospital, in Highland Park.

Longtime Professor of Cell & Developmental Biology, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University.

Beloved husband of Lili Zheng; loving father of Zora and Sophie Bartles; dear stepfather of Fan Zhang; cherished son of the late Van and Eleanor Ann, nee Scott; fond brother of Craig Bartles.

Visitation, Saturday, August 28, 2021, from 1 to 4 p.m., at HABEN Funeral Home & Crematory, 8057 Niles Center Rd., Skokie. [Please note:  In compliance with CDC, State, and local guidelines, face masks are mandatory indoors.]
