Jack E. McCarty, age 83, of Lindenhurst, died Friday, November 19, 2021, at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital, Lake Forest. Son of the late Andrew J. and Anna R., née Sawyer, McCarty, he was born February 6, 1938, in Elgin. Retired, longtime funeral director and embalmer at HABEN Funeral Home & Crematory, Skokie. He was part of the Haben Family from 1961 until his retirement in 1999. He was awarded the Distinctive Service Award from the Illinois Funeral Directors Association in 2010 after completing his 50th year of honorable service to the funeral profession.

Jack was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Lindenhurst; Antioch Lions Club; Northbrook Sport Club; and Blonhaven Hunt Club. He loved boating, cruising, and fishing on Lake Michigan as well as shooting sporting clays with his family.

Beloved husband of Sandra, nee Ackmann; dear father of Andrew (Sharon) and Robert (Dawn and the late Laura); loving grandfather of Michelle (Alex) Ball, Katie (Brendan) Filer, Joey (Dulce) Mysliwiec, Kristin A. McCarty, J.R. McCarty (Macy Revel), P.J. Ryan (deceased), Kristen Ryan, Stephanie (Codie) Jasper, and Leona Ryan (fiancé, Michael Green); cherished great-grandfather of Cole and Andrew Ball, Emmelynn McCarty, Benjamin Filer, Alivia and Eva Jasper; adopted father to JoAnn (Jeff) Mazurek and adopted grandfather to Daniel (Megan) and Haley Mazurek; fond brother of the late Robert E. McCarty and Patricia (Emilio) Garcia.

Visitation, Friday, November 26, 2021, from 4 to 8 p.m., at HABEN Funeral Home & Crematory, 8057 Niles Center Rd., Skokie.
