Hilteray McGhee, Jr., age 73, of Skokie, died Friday, March 19, 2021, at Cpt. James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago. The son of the late Hilteray, Sr., and Aberdeen, nee Rosebon, he was born March 20, 1947, in Chicago.

Beloved husband of Karen, nee Vernice; dear father of Hilteray McGhee III, Theodore Bradley McGhee, and the late Hilary Brooke McGhee; loving grandfather of nine; cherished great-grandfather of ten; fond brother of Claude McGhee and the late Clara Ahrendt.

Funeral Mass, Friday, March 26, 2021, at 10 a.m., at Holy Child Jesus Catholic Parish (St. Margaret Mary Church), 2324 W. Chase Ave., Chicago, IL, 60645.

Hi Tre, I wish that I could’ve been with you. I know that you were in a better place. My tears are flowing now… They are tears of joy, to honor my steadfast friend and brother in arms. Just know that you will never be forgotten.My blessings to Karen, your children and grandchildren. May you find comfort in knowing how much Tre gave to the world. The Marines taught you well. It was a pleasure to be able to care for Mr. McGhee this past year. In the little time that I've known him, I see why he was loved so much. He had a life story for every situation. Thank you for allowing me to get to know you, thank you for letting me support you, thank you for not getting upset when I pushed you to reach for more goals. You've showed me what determination and dedication can get you. You are strong, You are loved and You will truly be missed. Love you Mr. McGhee.

This Marine/Man/Husband/Veteran was so Loving, Caring, Giving and Kind. He would give ANYONE the shirt off his back. If he could help ANYONE he would. His Kindness knew no bounds. I was so privileged to know a him. And because of who he was I grew to Respect and Love him unconditionally. He will be missed. I sincerely offer my condolences to ALL of his loved ones. Tre' and his family are in my prayers now and forever. God Bless.
