Henry Hugel, age 88, of Skokie, died Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Ascension Living St. Benedict Village, in Niles.

Son of the late Adam and Angelika, née Hein, he was born January 24, 1934, in Yugoslavia.

Beloved husband of the late Katherine, née Hoffmann; dear father of Rosemarie Kennedy, Henry (Angela) Jr., and Kristina Christie; loving grandfather of Danielle (Tim) Roach, Bridget and Eileen Kennedy, Lindsay (Bret Holmes) and Ashley Paul, and Adam Hugel; cherished great-grandfather of Carson; fond brother of Maria Gross, Georg Hügel, Stefan Hügel, and the late Franz Hügel, Katharina Zaplatosch, Adam Hügel, and Kristina Dobrotka.

Visitation, Sunday, February 20, 2022, from 3 to 8 p.m., at HABEN Funeral Home & Crematory, 8057 Niles Center Rd., Skokie.

Funeral, Monday, February 21, at 9:45 a.m., from the funeral home, for Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at Sts. Peter & Lambert Catholic Parish (St. Peter Church), 8100 Niles Center Rd., Skokie.

Interment, St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, River Grove.

Henry was the greatest Man I knew. He loved life. He was like the brother I never had! He always had time to help anyone. He loved to dance with his wife Cathy. He loved the Cubs My Dad was not a baseball fan, so he always took me with Cathy. It always was a great time. My parents and Henry were very close. Henry and Dad worked together always and he learned a lot from my Dad. He will forever be missed always by my family and myself. My kids loved him and felt of him as an Uncle. Sorry I can’t be at the wake and funeral. But I saw him many times before he passed away, and I want to remember him like that. ALIVE and loving life.
