Frances Yuk Chun Leung, née Chan, age 80, of Evanston, loving wife to Dominic Leung, devoted mother and mother-in-law to Benjamin and Jena, and grandmother to Samuel, Elliott, and Evangeline, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, of lung cancer. Her final moments were spent peacefully at Evanston Hospital with family by her side.
Known for her giving nature and love of travel, Frances will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Frances was a strong role model to her family and community, as a pioneer in the computer software field, and an integral member of her church communities in Maryland, Massachusetts, and Illinois.
Frances’ family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life, and the sense of peace her presence brought to all who knew her.
She is also survived by her siblings, Patrick (Amy) Chan and Joyce (Peter) Ting; nieces, Felicia (Adrian) Hung and Serena (Dave) Lawrie; and nephew, Felix Chan, all of Toronto, Ontario. She was predeceased by her parents, Lai Lai, née Fung, and Yiu Gan Chan.
The Leung family invites friends to join them in a celebration of Frances’ life with Visitation, Friday, February 10, 2023, from 5 p.m. until time of Funeral Service, 7 p.m., at HABEN Funeral Home & Crematory, 8057 Niles Center Rd., Skokie. The family thanks Pastor Johnny Wilson of Grace Chinese Christian Church, Skokie, for officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Frances’ name to NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center, c/o NorthShore University HealthSystem Foundation, 1033 University Pl., Suite 450, Evanston, IL, 60201, where Frances received excellent care in the three years following her diagnosis.
