Edward R. Czaja, Jr., of Grayslake, IL, passed away December 21, 2021, after a short illness. He was born in Chicago on December 22, 1926, and died one day prior to his 95th birthday. He was pre-deceased by his wife of over 61 years, June Frances; he was the father of Edward R. Czaja, III (Brenda) and the grandfather of Jennifer Rose Czaja.
Ed served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II as a flight engineer on a B-29, based on Tinian Island, and was decorated for heroism. He received a degree in accounting and pursued a successful career as a real estate appraiser. His true passion in life was his service to fellow veterans as a life member of the American Legion, belonging to Skokie Post 320 and Morton Grove Post 134. In the Legion, he served in many leadership roles, including Past Department Commander of the State of Illinois.
He will be interred with military honors Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at 12:30 P.M. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL 60421.
