Edward M. Delahanty

Edward M. Delahanty, age 95, of Buffalo Grove passed away on February 5, 2022 at home. Prior to moving to Buffalo Grove, Ed was a long-term resident of Siesta Key, Florida, Glenview, and Skokie. The oldest of 5 children, Ed was born on June 23, 1926 in Chicago to Edward & Lucille (nee Gleason). Ed enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in both World War II and the Korean War. He married Lois H. Lindelof on June 10, 1950. Lois preceded him in death on June 29, 1979. Four years later Ed married Marjorie Pearl on October 8, 1983. He spent most of his career working for Illinois Bell Telephone Company. After retirement from Illinois Bell, Ed started E.T. Communications until his eventual retirement and move to Florida. His passions included family, golf and being a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather of 19, and great grandfather of 4.

He is survived by Marjorie and children Gregory (Laraine), Carol (the late Edward Harrison), Patrick (Diane), Michael (Lauri), John (Denise), Eileen (the late Thomas Washburn), Theresa (Michael Wisnewski), Paul, April Finn (nee Pearl) (Fred) and Kenneth Pearl (Christine). Ed is also survived by his sister Rita Lutzow and his brother William (Sharon) Delahanty. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Marjorie Bruhn, his brother Jack, sister- in-law Maureen, and his brothers-in-law Robert Lutzow and Ralph Bruhn as well as 2 sons-in-law (Ed Harrison and Thomas Washburn). Visitation, Tuesday, February 8, 2022, from 3 to 8 p.m., at HABEN Funeral Home & Crematory, 8057 Niles Center Rd., Skokie. Peter & Lambert Catholic Parish (St. Peter Church), 8100 Niles Center Rd., Skokie. Private Interment, St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Skokie.
