I just read in the ETHS Alumni Association news that Mr. Carlson passed away in November. He was my archaeology summer school teacher in the summer of 1971 and a huge influence in my life. I thought I wanted to be an archaeologist and his teaching and guidance that summer finalized that goal. I ended up majoring and getting a graduate degree in archaeology and this will be my 49th season in the field. I always tell students how lucky I was to have had a teacher in high school who encouraged me to follow my dreams. If I had it to do over I would take that summer school class and become an archaeologist. Thank you Mr. Carlson.
