Dr. Satish C. Saxena, age 84, resident of Skokie for 50 years, died November 24, 2018 at NorthShore Evanston Hospital. He began his career by earning a PhD in Physics from Calcutta University at age 22 and ended it as an Emeritus Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Illinois, Chicago, where he worked from 1968 to 1998. During his time as a professor, he was an active researcher who authored more than 500 research papers, 5 books, and 25 book chapters. He was born in Lucknow, India to Raja Ram Sinha and Vidya Wati Saxena. Beloved husband of Asha Saxena; dear father of Alka (Vijay) Kudesia, Alok (Monisha) Saxena, Anup (Shalini) Saxena, and Anil (Seema) Saxena; loving grandfather of Rashmi Pabari, Ravi Kudesia, Rajeev Saxena, Alisha Saxena, Riya Saxena, Isar Saxena, Nikita Saxena, Amisha Saxena, and Yash Saxena. Memorial service: Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Haben Funeral Home, 8057 Niles Center Road, Skokie, IL 60077.

I share with the Saxena family the grief for the loss of Professor Satish C. Saxena, my colleague at UIC from 1970 until 1998, when he retired from UIC, after 30 years of distinguished teaching and research. I always enjoyed my interactions with Satish and we spent a tremendous amount of time in joint academic activities. We worked together, laughed together, and experienced successes and failures together. Professor Satish C. Saxena and I had the pleasure of contributing together for the development of many courses, education and research of numerous students, publication of many papers & books as well as presentations in conferences while in the UIC Department of Energy Engineering, and later, UIC Department of Chemical Engineering. His passing away is a great loss to his family and colleagues.

Anup, Shalini and family, Diane and I are so very sorry for the loss of your dad Satish. I remember the few times that I met Satish that he was such a nice and kind man. I know how much he meant to you and your family as that guiding hand that helped to steer you in the right direction. I remember many stories that you have shared with me about him and your family. The world has lost a wonderful man. Please accept our heartfelt condolences and prayers to you and your family.
