Don Adamowicz, age 86, of Skokie. Passed away, Friday, September 10, 2021. Retired Chicago Public School teacher. Steinmetz High School graduate obtained a master’s degree from Northern Illinois University. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy J., nee Humphreys; proud and loving father of Dreana Adamowicz (Rob) Rubel; stepfather of William Humphreys; cherished grandfather of Vanessa, Matthew, and Brooke Rubel and Ki-Jana Humphreys; fond brother of the late Edward, Emily, Anna, and Henry; dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. Don lived a full life the way he wanted. He was a free spirit with a heart of gold. A great lover of jazz and many nights spent at the Green Mill. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all the many people he touched and loved. Visitation, Tuesday, September 14, 2021, from 5-8 p.m., at HABEN Funeral Home & Crematory, 8057 Niles Center Rd. Skokie. July 4th, today would be your birthday, I would definitely call and we would talk. I'm so sorry I found out about your passing so late. Friendship united us for many years. I want to thank you for those years. You will remain in my heart and in my memory forever.

Don was a regular of mine at the Green Mill for well over a decade. It was very rare to not find him in his favorite booth on Thursday nights. He truly loved the music and was always generous to us waitresses as well as the lucky friends and strangers that sat with him. I am reminded of him every time I see a $2 bill. He was a character for sure and I won’t ever forget him! RIP, Don, I will drink a Schlitz (in a glass) and toast to you, sir! Condolences to his friends and family. Cat Shively

My deepest condolences to Don's family. A late friend of mine & l met Don at the Green Mill several years ago. He graciously offered to share his table with us. On Tuesday nights, that table subsequently became the place to come to to have a great time for old & new friends. I will miss him, but at least I have very fond memories of those many nights. Uncle Don can’t believe you are gone! I will hold the memories and wisdom you have shared with me over the years! You were the epitome of what a Good person was never judged. I learned so much from you and will miss our weekly conversations. I am truly glad to call you my uncle and can find solace in knowing you lived a great life while here on earth and now you are back with Auntie Dorothy! Thank you for everything and always being a great uncle!

I knew Don from substituting in Chicago Public Schools. he was a very nice person who cared about others around him. He was very knowledgeable about music He will be greatly missed. My condolences go out to his family
