I am honored to have had the pleasure of spending these last few weeks with Dave. To watch him endure fear and pain with such dignity, was life-changing for me. What a sweet, gentle man! Even in his illness, he still cared about others. Dave made the world a better place and I am so glad I was in his life and he in mine (50 years). I knew I had to let him go, and with an aching heart, I prayed to God, “Your will be done, but please, if possible, let him stay a while.” I will miss and love, my dear brother-in-law Dave, forever.

I went to kindergarten with the Kozem twins and I lived east of them in the 5200 block of Grove Street in Skokie. We waited together for the kindergarten bus at the corner with the mailbox. And Mrs. Miles watched over us until the school bus came. I remember going to the Kozem twins' birthday party that year along with Bobby Miles and Wendy. Mrs. Kozem was always very kind to me and I remember her taking care of me when our kindergarten class took a field trip on the train. Mothers who came along to keep track of us watched over two children each. But, Mrs. Kozem was the only mother who watched over three children: me and her twin boys. I still remember your pretty house with the blue trim on Grove Street. Take good care and may God watch over David and his family at this difficult time. David and you are all in my prayers. God bless you all. Peggy Bell

I am quite saddened to hear of your passing. Dave, You've been a great friend and coworker over the years. You were quite funny and a joy to work with. Our mutual interests were on a level of sarcasm and wit and trying to survive in this crazy world. I will miss our times together. Anyone who knew you or worked with you is missing a great friend. My prayers of healing go out to your family.
