We send our love to Barbara‘s family. We are deeply sad to hear of this loss. She was a dear friend of my mom’s when we lived in Skokie and Chicago, and a special lady to our family. She was a generous person—she would pass along useful items for my classroom, she gave gifts to our daughters, she treated us to pizza, and she once made a lovely food platter for a friend’s funeral service (that she didn’t know!). A favorite memory was her patient love for Oreo and Panda who would get up to silly shenanigans! Barbara will be missed.

Barb's mother and my mother were sisters. The Baumhardts lived in Illinois, and my family lived in Massachusetts. But over a number of idyllic years when she and I were kids, her family visited ours on Cape Cod. I have such fond and enduring memories of those visits. With the passage of the years, the geographic distances, and life's twists and turns, our lives went in different directions, But Barb and I stayed in touch and would chat by phone from time to time. She was a decent, kind, loving person who didn't have an easy time of it in recent years by any means, but she never lost her cheerful optimism. She is a special soul, and she will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. Rest in peace, Barbara.

Thank you for giving us our forever home. We will always be thankful for how much you loved and took care of us, the car rides, sitting in the patio, the chicken, vegetables, and rice meals, extra treats, dog beds, toys, and walks. You will be missed and loved always.

Barbara was a dear family friend and neighbor. I will have many fond memories of our friendship - visits and conversations, eating out, grocery shopping, and loving, walking and caring for Oreo, Panda, and Roxie. Barbara was a wonderful listener and caring person. She loved and took pride in her family and friends. Each year her garden was beautiful and filled with flowers. Barbara will be missed and my deepest sympathy to her family.

Ms. Baumhardt, I will miss you greatly! Your loving and generous heart was truly infectious. I have learned from you so much from our weekly podiatry visits. I have come to appreciate you as a friend over the years and not just as a patient. Thank you for the tulips!
